I was never a particular fan of apples until I moved to southeastern Minnesota. Here, however, they are grown with such crazy abundance and variety that I’m quickly becoming obsessed! Whether it’s munching them out of hand (or with a bit of caramel dip), featuring them in desserts, or slipping them into salads, I try to take advantage of the full value of this local treat. I don’t know about keeping the doctor away, but perhaps all those apples will help combat my particular evil temptation that also comes into season at about the same time: fun size candy bars.
